Freight Marketplace

How can I log in to Freight Marketplace for the first time?

If you would like to log in to the Freight Marketplace platform, please access it via this page.On there you’ll find different possibilities for logging in - you can either use an existing user you already have with Google, Transporeon or Trimble or create a totally new one. If you want to use the latter method, please click on the link saying “Sign up” and enter an email address and password that you would like to use. Afterwards, you’ll have to accept the Terms of Use.

Subsequently, your account will be checked and you’ll be notified as soon as you can access this platform.

How can I reset my password?

How you can reset your password depends on the login method you usually use.

If it’s e.g. via email address and password, simply click on “Forgot password?” just under the password field; if you log in via Transporeon, please click on the continue with Transporeon button and afterwards on “Forgot your password?” to reset it.

A frequent issue we see is that a user clicks on the “Forgot password?” option in the log-in page at the top but they are normally logging in with their Transporeon user. Then the user needs to be informed that they select the forgot password option after clicking on “Continue with Transporeon”. The same for the log-in via Google and Trimble.

How can I adjust the email notifications?

Under the Email Notifications tab in the settings you can determine whether you want to receive email notifications and if so, which ones and how often.

What is the difference between Freight Marketplace and other procurement platforms/freight exchange platforms?

Freight Marketplace stands out as a genuinely neutral platform connecting shippers, forwarders, and carriers. Unlike other platforms that may focus on either the buyer or seller side and which primarily serve the spot market and focus on single shipments, we solely offer a neutral space for both sides to connect. Sellers benefit from showcasing their services to a large number of buyers, while buyers can request quotes not only from their connected carriers but also from thousands of carriers they are not yet connected with, thus effectively expanding their network.

The platform offers 3 modules:

  1. RFQ module for long-term strategic tenders

  2. Mini-tenders (lane requests) for single-lane tenders with specific contractual periods and precise volume commitments

  3. Spot module for ad-hoc shipments

Additionally, the platform supports decision-making through data-driven insights. For example, for every lane and spot opportunity, you will be able to see real-time market prices based on Transporeon internal data.

Moreover, while freight exchange platforms typically cater to forwarders and carriers, Transporeon Freight Marketplace enables shippers to post tenders, allowing carriers to bid directly and secure business.

In summary, Transporeon Freight Marketplace builds a curated network of shippers, carriers, and forwarders, emphasizing both contractual and spot business. In contrast, freight exchange platforms primarily focus on spot transactions between forwarders and asset-based carriers.

Is the platform available in the English language only?

The platform is available in 27 languages. You can change the language by navigating to the ‘User Settings’ tab on the platform and then clicking on the ‘General Settings’ tab.

Carrier FAQs

How is the verification process set-up?

In order to use all features of Freight Marketplace there are some documents that you have to upload and that we have to verify. They are the following ones:

  • VAT number

  • EU License (only if you own and operate an own fleet)

  • Company Registration

  • Cargo Insurance

You can upload these documents by navigating to the ‘My Profile’ section in the platform. Under the ‘General Information’ tab, enter your VAT number and company details. Then, upload the required documents in the ‘Documents’ section.

Only when these documents and the VAT number are verified by us, you will be able to use Freight Marketplace normally. Until they are verified, the following limitations apply

  • No offer submission: You are able to see the spot shipments and lane requests but cannot submit an offer for them

  • Anonymized events: More specifically you can see the name of the event and the name of the buyer but you don’t see the exact location of the pickup and delivery locations. You only see the country code and a 2-digit ZIP code. The rest of the details of the event are visible

  • No buyer information: The buyer’s profile cannot be accessed and the contact information in the events is not visible.

  • No Market Insights data: The market rates from Market Insights are not visible for unverified sellers

How long does it take to get the documents checked?

We typically process all checks within 24 hours. If any documents are not approved, you will receive an email notification explaining the reason for rejection, along with the option to upload a new document or provide a valid explanation.

What are the prices for using the platform?

When you want to offer on available spot shipments or lane request events, there are two subscription plans:

Free Plan: It’s free of charge but comes with usage restrictions, such as the ability to offer on only up to 10 lane requests or spot shipments per week, limited access to buyer profile information, and restricted contact options with buyers.

Basic Plan: It costs €99/month or €999/year, offering unlimited usage on the platform for an unlimited number of users.

Free trial period

After signing up to Freight Marketplace, you’ll automatically be in a free trial period of 30 days, during which you will have full access to the platform without any restrictions. Once the trial period ends, you will be automatically downgraded to the Free plan. If you want full access again without any usage restrictions, you can activate the Basic plan subscription by navigating directly to the ‘Subscriptions & Billing’ tab in the “User Settings” page.

How can I change the subscription plan?

You can do so directly on the platform by navigating to the ‘User Settings’ page and then clicking on the ‘Subscriptions & Billing’ tab.

What is the difference between the three types of events?

On Freight Marketplace, there are three types of events - spot shipments, lane requests and RFQs.

Spot shipment: Contains one single shipment on a single lane.

Lane request: Single lane events for multiple, regular shipments in a certain time period.

RFQ: Strategic, multi-lane tender with long-term contracts.

Which types of transport modes are available at the moment?

Currently, Freight Marketplace is limited to FTL road and intermodal transport. Future expansion to other modes is planned.

Spot section

How is the spot section set-up?

The spot section is split into three pages:

  • Spot shipments: This is the seller side view of all available spot shipments that you can bid on.

  • My Shipments: This is the buyer side view where you can create and publish your spot shipments so that other sellers can bid on them.

  • My Offers: This is the seller side view of all offers you have submitted. This means, once you submit an offer to a spot shipment in the “Spot Shipments” page the submitted offer will also be visible in the “My Offers” page.

However, it is important to note that all three pages are visible to you, regardless if you are a carrier with a fleet of your own or an LSP that also does subcontracting.

How can I see the market prices when submitting an offer?

When submitting an offer for a spot shipment, market prices will be displayed below the “Your offer” section, if these are available. This information comes from our Market Insights tool and gives you valuable market data. To view, simply expand the collapsed section below where you can enter the offer. When expanded, it shows the market price and the accuracy of the price. If there is no Market Insights price available, then this section does not appear at all.

Please note: The market prices from Market Insights are only accessible when you have subscribed to the Basic Plan or you are in the trial period. The prices are not visible in the Free plan.

Lane request section

What are negotiation scopes or dimensions?

Negotiation scopes is essentially information that the buyer requires you to give in a lane request. The buyer can define up to 5 negotiation scopes in a lane request:

  • Price (mandatory): You enter the single price, typically as price per shipment, which is automatically calculated to a total price based on the volume and capacity.

  • Capacity: You can define how much of the requested volume you can provide.

  • Emissions: The amount of CO2e for one shipment. This can either be entered manually by you or can be calculated automatically by us based on the factors fuel type, emission standard class and vehicle weight class.

  • Transit Time: The time (days) you need to do the transport.

  • Transport Mode: You can define if the offer is for road or intermodal (combination of road and an additional mode, typically rail).

Why can’t I see all the information and can’t use all functionalities?

There are two reasons why you might not see all information or information will be anonymised.

  1. You are not verified: You are not verified yet. In this case you don’t see all the information and cannot submit offers.

  2. You are in the Free Plan: If you are in the Free Plan, so are not paying for the use of Freight Marketplace, then there will be some restrictions for you:

    1. You can submit only up to 10 offers per week.

    2. Buyer name is visible but the buyer profile cannot be accessed.

    3. The contact information in the events is not visible.

    4. Market Insights data is not visible.

    5. The option to download lane requests and upload multiple offers at once is not available.

RFQ section

RFQ sign (hammer) isn’t visible

If the hammer, i.e. the RFQ sign, isn’t visible for your company, it means that your account isn’t enabled to use this feature.

RFQ upload will not work (Upload problems)

There will be issues with uploading Excel templates created in OpenOffice or other non-Microsoft software. This occurs when you don't have a Microsoft Office license, as Freight Marketplace cannot process these formats. The solution is to convert the data into a standard Excel file before uploading—most software can export to Excel format.

Issues occurring during the offer submission

If you have not clicked submit, the offer remains incomplete and has not been transferred to the customer.

To complete an offer, please check if all requirements are met.

The information shown after uploading to the Marketplace is not a show-stopper, you can still click “Submit”.

If an offer has been submitted, then you can withdraw the latest upload. Afterwards the upload button will be re-activated.

Communicate with the buyer

To ask a question or send a message you deem important to the buyer, you can use the “Ask a question” icon on the top right side.

Other questions related to offer submission

Is it possible to receive email notifications for tenders only, based on the routes of interest defined in our profile and not for all the others?

Unfortunately, this is currently not possible. You can only enable or disable email notifications for all the new tenders published on the platform, regardless of the routes of interest you set up in your profile. We are working on making notifications more customisable. We will inform you once this is available to you.

Why is there partial information in some lane requests, with buyer name and full postcodes not displayed?

Shippers do not always want to disclose their name and tender information to all carriers on the platform. When they choose this option, they decide to conceal certain information, which means you won't see the shipper's name and the complete postcodes of the loading and unloading destinations. However, you will still have access to all other information necessary for calculating a price and submitting a bid for the tender. Shippers will then have the opportunity to review your offer and if they are interested, they can award the business to you.

When bidding on a tender, how will I receive feedback on whether the offer was accepted or rejected by the shipper?

Once a shipper accepts or rejects your bids, you will be notified by email. To ensure you receive these notifications, please ensure that email notifications are enabled in the ‘User settings’ section of the platform.

What can I expect after my bid is accepted by a buyer?

Once your bid is accepted, the buyer will contact you via the email address provided to discuss the load requirements and finalise details, such as the start date and the commencement of load deliveries.

Does Transporeon bear responsibility in the event that the customer fails to make payment?

No, Transporeon does not bear any responsibility for that. We solely provide the technology to facilitate communication between carriers and shippers. The contractual agreement between the carrier and the shipper is beyond the scope of Transporeon. Similarly, any matters related to the execution of the loads fall within the purview of the shipper and the carrier.

As a carrier, can I describe my business and the services I offer?

Certainly. We have a dedicated section within the platform called ‘My profile’ where you can provide detailed information about your services. By completing your profile, you'll make it easier for potential buyers to find you and learn about your business. A complete profile will distinguish you from your competitors and increase your visibility among shippers seeking specific expertise and requirements like yours.

Additionally, we will also verify some of your documents and information (VAT number, EU license, Cargo Insurance and Company Register document). If all the documents are valid, you will get the ‘Transporeon Verified Carrier’ Badge which will be visible to all the shippers on the platform and will give you more exposure to them.

The country listed in my profile is incorrect and I cannot change it. How can I update it?

Please contact Transporeon directly and we will update it for you.

How can I add new users to my company account if some of my colleagues want to join the platform?
